Graduate trainee positions are available within most sectors of the pharmaceutical industry, and usually require a science background. The most important thing is that the candidate has evidence of drive and is serious about Medical Sales as a career direction. The best way to demonstrate this is to have undertaken research - including spending day work shadowing a Medical Representative.

Essentially, prospective employers are looking for someone who is a cut above the average. You will attend an "Initial" or "Intensive" Training Course, which will generally run for between 4 and 7 weeks in total, however not necessarily concurrently. Lots of support is given to assist with settling into a new region. Your time will typically be split between selling to GPs and Hospitals on the territory, sometimes solely into Primary Care.
