About Product Management....

A Product Manager plays a lead role in the marketing team, liaising with the Sales Management team and is usually based from Head Office.

The role is to drive the strategy and tactical implementation of the portfolio, and to develop and adapt marketing initiatives to further drive the market share. This involves analysis and implementation of the full 'marketing mix', traditionally the four P's - Product; Price; Place and Promotion - including PR, Advertising, Sales Generation, Market Research etc. A first move into Marketing from the field is usually achieved within your existing company, perhaps as a secondment.

The promotional line is to Senior Product Manager, and onto UK Marketing Manager. Over time they will develop a sound knowledge of advanced marketing processes and the principles of forecasting, a sound knowledge of strategic thinking, planning & organising, Key Opinion Leader Development and skills in influencing and customer service. On a more senior level, it sometimes involves international project work and both domestic and international travel.
